William (Bill) Drake

Bill Drake (1941-2011) worked as a cartographer with the New Zealand Department of Survey and Land Information, where he was manager of New Zealand topographic map production from 1970 until 1992. In 1992, he retired from government service and moved to New Mexico where he founded Drake Mountain Maps, publishing hiking maps with shaded relief of mountain areas in New Mexico and Colorado.
