Additional Information

Tom Patterson obtained a continuous tone photographic print of the shaded relief from the USGS in 1987. The photographic print contained the conterminous United States and insets of Alaska and Hawaii. The whereabouts of original relief plate is not known. According the USGS, it might be in a warehouse in northern Virginia along with other uncatalogued materials from the Atlas of the United States of America project. Note: a colorized rendition of Harrison’s monochromatic original relief appeared in the Atlas of the United States of America. The colors were derived photo mechanically.
